SKIARE YOUTH PROGRAM
This
program has been carefully designed for student’s aged between
10 – 18 year of age. The objective is to provide the following
experiences:
- Fun & enjoyment
- Skiing & snowboarding in a safe and controlled atmosphere
with professional and experienced staff
- Learn about the Dolomite area and the battles that took
place during WW1
- Culture & Language. Expose students to a diverse European
culture as well as 3 different languages spoken in the Alta
Badia region, being German, Italian and Ladin
- Confidence & self esteem
Skiing & Snowboarding
A
total skiing & snowboarding experience awaits you with Skiare.
All staff working on the snow holds the highest ski instructor
qualifications. A maximum of 10 children per group will take part
in the all day ski outings. From morning to afternoon you will
have the experience of some of Alta Badia’s best ski instructors
by your side. The days are broken up into instruction, guiding
and general fun skiing or snowboarding.
All ski instructors are multi-lingual.
The skiing & boarding program includes instruction,
guided on piste free skiing, carving technique, gate training,
moguls and if snow conditions allow – powder skiing
(only on safe and suitable terrain).
Sample itinerary of a day:
- 07:45 Wake up call
- 08:15 Breakfast
- 09:00 Meeting with the ski instructor at the Hotel, where
each group will start their day
- 09:15 Ski day starts. Depending on the groups skiing level
the destination will vary. The morning skiing /boarding
will include warm up runs & instruction.
- 12:00 Lunch. Each group will stop for a lunch break at
one of the many mountain restaurants.
- 12:30 Afternoon skiing session includes free skiing/boarding
with the ski instructor, practicing the hints & tips
given during the morning session and previous days. Skiing
gates, formation skiing and good fun exercises all with
the objective to improve the child’s skiing ability.
- 15:30 Return to the hotel. The instructor of each group
will safely return to the hotel with all of the children.
Free time.
- 16:00 Start of the after skiing activities including language
lessons (German and Italian), ice skating, tennis, indoor
soccer, toboggan, etc.
- 18:00 Dinner
- 20:30 Time to relax, reading/card games/board games/movies
- 22:00 Sleep time
Accommodation:
Hotel
Gran Ciasa is a 3 star property located in the village of Colfosco,
Alta Badia. The main slope is approx. 150m from the hotel. Bedrooms
for 2 & 3 persons are available and are all fitted with a
telephone, radio & TV and an on suite bathroom. The hotel
also has an indoor swimming pool, wellness area, café bar,
Internet access, living room and secured ski room. Breakfast and
dinner are prepared within the hotel and served in the dining
room. Meals are all well balanced taking individual needs into
consideration. Hotel Gran Ciasa is a family run hotel with a warm
family atmosphere (see link on our home page under Accommodation)
COLFOSCO – the village
Of Alta Badia’s 6 villages, Colfosco is the third
largest. The Alta Badia area offers:

FOOD – MEALS
The
Hotel Gran Ciasa provides a buffet breakfast and a three course
dinner every day. For lunch through the day children will be
taken to some of the wonderful ‘rifugi’ (mountain
huts) that litter the ski area. Here you can choose from a great
selection of traditional meals to simple sandwiches and soups.
Lunch is not included in the price of your holiday. This is
because the area is so vast and the opportunity so large to
sample some wonderful places and dishes. All food, from sandwiches
to main hot meals are good value. Lunch can range from AUD10.00
– AUD40.00 including a drink. Best estimation is AUD25.00
per person per day.
EDUCATIONAL ASPECT
The
Skiare Youth Program includes 2 language course, German and
Italian. The classes are conducted in the afternoon for 1 hour
per day and are not compulsory. The students will be encouraged
to practice the languages during the day by reading menus and
sign post. Skiare believe the educational aspect of this program
should be enjoyable and practical.

SERVICE
Hospital: Three large regional hospitals.
The closest being Bruneck Hospital (35km), Brixen Hospital (65km)
and the furthest being Bolzano Hospital (75km)
General Doctors Surgery’s & Pharmacies:
There are 2 general surgeries & 3 pharmacies in Alta Badia.
Local Bus Service: A local bus service provides
regular runs between all 6 villages of the Alta Badia Region.
Bank: There are several banks in each village
and all provide ATM facilities.
Ski Patrol: A professional Ski Patrol service
is based in each village. They provide a swift and reliable
service to the mountains. All Ski Patrol outfits are in direct
radio contact with the helicopter service. In cases where serious
injuries are suspected the patient will always be recovered
by helicopter and taken to the nearest hospital.
